about us
my hobby started out when
i was very young. from earlier than i can remember, i loved apples. i wanted them with my meals and as a snack. when
i grew up, my love of apples continued.
when i was old enough to
start cooking, my mother helped me make caramel apples. because i made them so frequently,
i was able to experiment with the caramel and
make subtle changes to the recipe. these changes soon developed into
a very buttery caramel.
throughout my growing up,
whenever there was a party or family gathering or whatever, i was asked to
make my caramel apples. soon, people would ask for them for their
own special occasions.
i started experimenting
with rolling the hot caramel into different nuts and fruits, to see what
the taste would be like. i gave samples to my friends and
acquaintances to get their reaction.
i had made one apple with
caramel and pecans and someone suggested that if i could add some milk
chocolate, it would be like eating a turtle. so i started
experimenting with adding chocolate to the different nuts and
fruits.
as more and more people
found out about my gourmet apples (the ones with the chocolate, nuts and
fruits), i began to receive more requests to make those kinds of apples
and less of the caramel apples.
what started out as a
hobby was now turning into a part time business. i made the decision
to discontinue making caramel apples and concentrate on my gourmet apples.
as my part time business
continued to grow through word of mouth, i finally had to make a decision
on whether to turn this into a full time business. if so, i would
need a commercial kitchen.
i have recently formed a
partnership with a company that has a commercial kitchen and am now able
to make my apples anytime they are ordered.
i personally think my
apples are wonderful. i hope you do too!
how do we do it?
we start with giant fuji apples. these aren't easy to find because they are much
too big for supermarkets to carry. we have to make special
arrangements to get these giant apples.
we then make a batch of
homemade caramel in a copper pot. our giant apples are then plunged
into this vat of buttery caramel (then the fun begins).
we then take the apple
with the hot caramel and roll it into a variety of products (nuts,
raisins, cranberries and our own almond buttercrunch).
after the caramel has
cooled, we add the chocolate by hand and create our beautiful
masterpieces.
